ABOUT THIS EVENT

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
is one of the evidence-based therapeutic interventions delivered at P2P. CPP is aimed at improving the relationship between a child (typically aged 0-5) and their primary caregiver. It focuses on helping both the child and the caregiver cope with the impact of trauma, attachment issues, or stressful life experiences. CPP is grounded in attachment theory, developmental psychology, and psychoanalysis, and it integrates elements from these frameworks to address the emotional and psychological needs of the child and the caregiver.

The team of internationally endorsed Infant Mental Health Mentors® and Infant Mental Health Practitioners® at P2P will provide a broad brief overview of the P2P model and the different evidence-based interventions they deliver, including a focus on how CPP is used with families who have experienced trauma and early adversity with specific case material.

THE PRESENTERS
Rochelle Matacz, Executive Director of Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic, WA, and her team of PIMH Supervisors

The Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic (Visit Website) is a no-cost community-based early intervention service supporting families experiencing difficulties whilst transitioning into parenthood. P2P provides a range of evidence-based clinical interventions, delivered by appropriately trained clinicians to help caregivers build nurturing relationships with their baby (up until age 3 years) to support optimal development, whilst also learning skills to cope wit the emotional demands of parenthood. P2P services can be accessed via primary health care providers, mental health services and a wide array of health professionals. P2P also build capacity and capability of Western Australia’s future workforce by providing a specialised training program for postgraduate clinical psychology trainees and other allied health professionals in addition to provision of specialised Perinatal & Infant Mental Health (PIMH) Training Programs to build knowledge and expertise in organisations supporting infants, very young children and their families.
